He graduated in Electronic Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (1975) and in Medicine from the University of Taubaté (1993). He obtained a master’s degree in Electronic Engineering from the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (1979) and a doctorate in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London (1983). Since 1990 he has been a Full Professor at the Technological Institute of Aeronautics, where he served as Head of the Systems and Control Department and Head of the Postgraduate Division. He is currently a Full Collaborating Professor in the Electronic Engineering Division, having retired in 2013. He was Director-Secretary (1985-1987), Vice-President (2002-2004) and President (2004-2006) of the Brazilian Society of Automatics . He is co-author of 5 books. He has more than 108 articles published in journals and 314 in scientific events. He has successfully supervised or co-supervised at least 36 doctors, 93 masters and 70 scientific initiation fellows, as well as 169 course completion works. He has been a reviewer/editor of numerous journal articles and scientific events. He participated in more than 400 examination boards (Dissertations, Theses, Competitions). He served as a member of CA / CNPq (1998-2000 and 2009-2012), Area Coordination Eng I FAPESP (2006-2013) and Evaluation Committee CAPES Eng IV (1999, 2010, 2013, 2017, 2022) . He has experience in the area of Electronic Engineering, with an emphasis on Automatic Control Systems, focusing mainly on Stochastic Optimal Control problems and their Applications.
