Marcelo Gomes da Silva Bruno

holds a degree in Electrical Engineering, emphasis on Telecommunications, from the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (EPUSP), a master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Systems area, also from EPUSP, and a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh PA, USA. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Electronic Engineering Division of the Technological Institute of Aeronautics (ITA) in São José dos Campos, SP, Brazil. His general area of research is Bayesian estimation applied to signal processing, in particular sequential Monte Carlo methods/particle filters, Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), probabilistic graph models (HMMs, Bayesian networks, Markov random fields) statistics on manifolds , and its applications in target tracking, navigation, image/video processing, mobile robotics, and telecommunications. His most recent research area is distributed estimation/filtering in sensor networks and distributed filtering of manifold-defined signals.
